Keeping Children Safe in Education 2016

In March 2015, the DfE updated the statutory guidance on safeguarding.  This was subsequently updated again in July 2015 to include more detail regarding CSE, FGM, Children Missing Education and Radicalisation, and was then further updated in September 2016 to include more detail regarding Sexting and clarification regarding a number of points including FGM and staff training.”

This revised version of the guidance replaces the following documentation:

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education (2015)
  • Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education (2006)
  • Dealing with allegations of abuse against teachers and other staff: Guidance for local authorities, head teachers, school staff, governing bodies and proprietors of independent schools (2012)

Schools should ensure that all policies and procedures are updated in line with this new statutory guidance.
